About

In 1998, having just arrived in Bratislava, Ally Robinson decided to organise a football tournament. There is no rhyme nor reason why the tournament began, it just happened.

On 31 August 2001, Ivan Počiatek, the father-in-law of the organiser Ally Robinson died from Cancer; having battled the dreadful disease for well over half a year. Since then, the cup has been named the Počiatek Pohár in his memory.

The host team are known as TIP (Tím Ivana Počiatka) and are usually made up of family members, but ringers are inevitably brought into the side to help the team bring the cup back home. It has not happened yet, although they were close in 2002, finishing runners-up.

The tournament is now played with 10 teams, 2 are eliminated after the group rounds and then the knock-out stage begins. Quarter-finals, semi-finals and then a final and a third place match conclude the tournament. See rules for further info.

Prizes are awarded to the top goal scorer and those teams that finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

This event usually sees teams return for following competitions and over the years we have seen a lot of motivation and desire to win. When the whistle blows, it is a pleasure to see the amount of good sportsmanship displayed, regardless of victory or defeat.
